Feline like a little company

In our base there are many cats that live, these are placed here for a purpose, mostly for pest control.

They are great for dealing with vermin and other creatures that could spread disease. Tonight I was sitting in my Sanger about 30ft up, watching my arcs with my General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) pointing along the road, when I hear the sound of a cat meowing! I turned to see a cat climbing in through one of the gun port holes and it came promptly up to me for a cuddle.

After a while it jumped up onto the shelf next to me where my food box that I had only just had delivered, delves in, takes the salami out of my sandwich and promptly gulps it down, just to ‘add salt to my wound’ the cat then jumped onto the floor did its business and popped back out through the port hole! Charming I thought.

Well the lads thought that this was funny especially as I was the one having to clear up after it. I have seen the cat since and the way it acts with everyone, you would think that ‘butter wouldn’t melt in its mouth’.

Well I suppose they do bring morale for us in a plentiful supply, especially when I received the news that the same cat had hit the guard room a few days later and done exactly the same in front of the commander!
