I AM not sure how Mike Taylor (HAS, Jan 15) came to the conclusion that a trade deal was signed.
What I said was the only deal on offer was the same as with other associated countries and included free movement of people.
£39bn is what we owe due to past commitments and will not ensure a better trade deal.
Past experience with other countries trying to get a trade deal should demonstrate the determination of the EU to ensure it will be on their terms, trade deficit or no trade deficit.
