ON my usual trip to Eston to see my son and his wife, I was once again disgusted by the amount of roadside litter and overflowing litter bins on the Darlington A66 bypass. It continued to the invisible boundary with Stockton.

I regularly do this trip and have noticed that frequently when entering the 50mph zone which signals the start of Stockton, one lane is closed to clean the verge.

Although I do not think lane closure is really necessary, at least the verge is being cleaned.

AFTER driving around Darlington’s new housing developments, of which there are many, why can’t the developers and the council incorporate discreet bin housing?

At the moment all/most of the bins are all stuck outside the front doors and will inevitably blow over. Cats and foxes won’t help the situation.

These bins are very unsightly and will only add to the big problem of the amount of rubbish in and around Darlington.
