I WATCHED in horror and disgust at last Friday evening’s news footage inside a slaughterhouse. It showed animals being beaten, thrown about, given shocks and worse we didn’t see.

Not all slaughter houses can be tarred with the same brush but these rogue monsters need stopping.

Those poor animals would be distressed and wary about what was happening to them only to suffer this abuse as well.

I do like meat but suddenly have a distaste for it.

I agreed with the report that cameras should be installed in every slaughter house and any mistreatment of animals be reported.

The farming programmes are happy to tell us about the animal’s welfare while they are alive.

How about some compassion and dignity when they die.
