RESIDENTS living in the northern outskirts of Darlington are justified in opposing the proposal to connect the A66 with the A1(M) when there are other options available.
Past decisions of our planners in the Town Hall have produced a collection of uncompleted schemes. We have three quarters of an inner ring road, a third of an outer by pass and two thirds of a cross town route.
Is the answer to our traffic problems to complete the cross town route and build an access to the North where the A66 meets the A1(M) at Blackwell? This will reduce the traffic on many of our roads including West Auckland Road, Woodland Road, Carmel Road, Brinkburn Road and Haughton Road.
Brian Fiske, Darlington
