I AGREE with Philip Draper (HAS, June 17) that the Tories are motivated more by party rather than national interest, and that a hard Brexit would be disastrous.
However, only the Tories can form a stable government. A minority Labour government wouldn’t last five minutes with over half of MPs (Tories and DUP) voting against them.
I also agree with Nigel Boddy (HAS, June 17) that a Tory arrangement with the Liberal Democrats would be more in the national interest than one with the DUP.
The Northern Ireland peace agreement is far too important to be put at risk.
Unfortunately the Lib Dems are committed by election pledges against such an arrangement, but as a party member I would certainly support it.
