DESIGNED by teenagers, this is the Skoda Funstar - a pick-up based on the Fabia.

Regarded as the successor to the Felicia Fun, which some may remember from the late 1990s, the Funstar lives up to its name.

The designers, all students at the Skoda Auto Vocational School, were supported by the company's chief designer Jozef Kaban and the project follows on from a similar initiative last year.

The Funstar comes in a combination of steel-grey and moon-white, while the sills, grille surround and rear spoiler are in a striking reflex-green. One special feature is the LED lights mounted below the sidebars. The dual-lens headlights also feature LED technology, with green LED light strips serving as daytime running lights. LEDs are also used in the rear lights.

With 18ins ‘Gemini’ alloys from the Octavia RS, it is powered by a 1.2 TSI petrol engine and has a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

The sporty look continues in the interior where individual elements are also finished in steel-grey and moon-white. Befitting a car designed by youth, there's also a 1400-Watt sound system.

The Funstar makes its debut at the Worthersee festival in Austria later this month.
