Johnny Cash Roadshow's North-East tour dates

THE only show to be endorsed by the Cash family, The Johnny Cash Roadshow, is visiting Consett and South Shields, in February; Scarborough, in March and Newcastle in May.

The band features award-winning Clive John as Johnny Cash, Amanda Stone as June Carter, Nick Davis (electric guitar and vocals), Martin Bentley (double bass and vocals) and Darren Bazzoni (drums and vocals). Anne Masters and Debbie Watt appear as the Carter Sisters and the JC Horns.

The show includes Cash favourites such as Walk the Line and Folsom Prison Blues, recorded with Sun Records in the 1950s, right up to Hurt – Johnny Cash’s last release in 2002 – recorded by Rick Rubin for his American Recordings label. Songs also include the crowd-pleasers Man in Black, A Boy Named Sue and The Ring of Fire.

The chemistry of Johnny and June is also brought to the stage with a focus on the duets the couple sang, including Jackson.

There will be accompanying video projection that brings evocative images to each song, helping to complete the story of this performing legend.

Clive John is also a songwriter and his solo album, The Spirit, was nominated for Best British Country Music Album of the year 2011, with the title song voted best song of the year.

Tour dates: Feb 9 Empire, Consett; Feb 12, Customs House, South Shields; March 18, Scarborough Spa and May 11, Newcastle City Hall.
