THERE’S surely no place she would Rather Be than the North-East as, hot on the heels of her Newcastle MetroRadio Arena performance, Music Plus Sport and Alnwick Castle are delighted to welcome Jess Glynne to the historic venue on August 12.

First coming into the public consciousness as the vocalist on Clean Bandit’s Grammy Award-winning and No1 hit Rather Be; pop sensation Glynne has since become one of the biggest UK breakthrough acts of recent years.

Her charting-topping debut album I Cry When I Laugh has turned double platinum in the UK, making it the highest-selling first album of the past year. Glynne is also one of only two British female solo artists to have five consecutive UK number one singles. This year she completed a sold-out UK arena tour and was nominated for British Breakthrough Act, British Female Solo Artist and British Single for Hold My Hand at this year’s prestigious Brit Awards.

Glynne says: "I love outdoor shows and can’t wait to return to the North-East to share a summer evening with my fans."

Following difficulties in 2015, Alnwick Castle has formed a partnership with the innovative music promoter Music Plus Sport, that operates a number of events at The Jockey Club Live, Donington Live and summer concerts at rugby and cricket ground across the UK.

"This will be our biggest concert to date, and as joint organisers, we will be working proactively with Music Plus Sport to deliver a high quality and affordable evening suitable for all the family," a spokesperson for Alnwick Castle says.

Anthony Norris, Music Plus Sport Event Director, says: "We are fully aware of what has gone before us and are fully confident that we will deliver an amazing show and one that is memorable for all the right reasons."

Alnwick Castle has been home to the Percy family for more than 700 years, and is the second largest inhabited castle in England. Concert attendees can enjoy an evenings entertainment against the stunning back drop of the Castle, with sweeping views of the Capability Brown landscape and the River Aln. The castle has been used as a filming location for a number of TV and film productions, most famously featuring as Hogwarts in the first two Harry Potter films. Alnwick Castle is open to the public as a visitor attraction between March and October each year.
