Rat Boy ready for Newcastle date

AFTER a sold-out UK tour in May, which included headlining Brixton Electric, the rise of Rat Boy continues with the his largest headline tour to date with an appearance at Newcastle University on September 18.

Building a reputation as a riotous live performer, he got a review stating: “Essex indie rapper Jordan Cardy destroys the kitchen at a chaotic house party gig” and his performance at Heaven received a four-star live review from The Times. As a result every Rat Boy headline gig has been sold-out.

This year he's featured on the BBC Sound of 2016 longlist, the MTV Brand New for 2016 shortlist, was nominated for Best New Artist at the NME Awards, and played his own biggest headline tour. Festival bookings across the UK and Europe this summer, have included Glastonbury, Latitude, Reading and Leeds.

Cardy's music is an amalgamation of styles, mostly involving hip hop and indie rock. His main musical influences are The Clash and The Streets and his sound has been compared to Jamie T and The Beastie Boys. A fan of Kendrick Lamar and Kasabian, Cardy has a DIY approach to his art and music, mostly recording and producing his own tracks at home and creating all his own album art. Many of Cardy's songs consist of narratives and stories within the lyrics, as well as samples recorded of sounds and conversations from his daily life in Chelmsford.
