Teesside drama audition

ALRA – The Academy of Live and Recorded Arts, a drama college with campuses in London and Greater Manchester, is offering auditions in Middlesbrough on February 22 as part of its extended outreach initiative.

ALRA is a conservatoire with high level accreditations that trains actors for a career in professional theatre, film, television and radio. A number of students receive dance and drama award funding to support them through their training – making it much more accessible for young people to realise their ambitions. The academy's track record for diversity is excellent and might be the right choice for someone thinking about training to be an actor. Only by applying can you see if you have what it takes. Talent may be top of the list, but hard work and dedication are mainly what is required. The minimum age for application is 18 years and mature students are encouraged to apply.

Adrian Hall, the principal of ALRA, will be on the panel for this regional audition at Middlesbrough Theatre. He understands how tough an acting career can be. His own career began as a child when he played Jeremy in the classic film musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang with the legendary Dick Van Dyke. Hall then went on to act as an adult and has trained in most aspects of theatre and production before becoming a leading figure in actor training in the UK.

The audition is held at Middlesbrough Theatre (mltmiddlesbrough.org.uk) and to apply, prospective students should go to the ALRA website and fill in the online form (alra.co.uk)
