Generating success

THE UK's leading music development agency, Newcastle-based Generator, has confirmed the welcome return of Evolution Emerging Festival which is set to take place on Saturday, May 27, on Tyneside.

With the announcement, Generator is once again looking for the best emerging North-East talent to showcase at this year’s event – the organisation's takeover of the best independent venues in the Ouseburn Valley.

Now in its ninth year, Evolution Emerging will see more than 40 emerging artists playing alongside special guest headliners and artists unearthed through Generator's innovative Tipping Point blog.

To be considered to perform at this year's showdown, all artists have to do to is follow the simple application process at evolutionemerging.com in partnership with Music Glue.

Having successfully providing the model for the BBC’s 6 Music Festival by Day, Evolution Emerging is set to grow as a force with this year's event poised to be the biggest and best yet with full lineup and ticket info announced early March.

Bob Allan, talent development manager, says: “It’s safe to say from the reaction of festivalgoers, artists and press that our 2016 event was our best yet, with thousands of new music fans enjoying amazing performances from the like of Jake Houlsby, A Festival A Parade, EAT FAST, SoShe, PLAZA, Seeing Hands, Kingsley Chapman and the Murder, Cattle and Cane and loads more.”

When the application deadline of Friday, February 3, (11.59pm) has expired, Generator will invite a panel of North-East music tastemakers to vote for their favourites.
