Big hair is back as Shine Hair & Beauty unveils its new collection for the party season

Party season is well under way and this year it’s about maximum impact. Big hair is well and truly back in as the new looks created by stylists at Shine Hair & Beauty testify. Shine has salons Preston Farm, Stockton, and in Northallerton and Stokesley.

“The smooth, understated looks of heavily straightened hair for previous party seasons have been replaced by hair to turn heads,” says Jacqui Elliott, owner at Preston Farm. “It’s big, bold and beautiful, and can be taken as extreme as the client wants it to be.”

The first look is perfect for long hair, which is backcombed before being pulled up and piled high in multiple loops to create a faux Mohican style with a thoroughly modern quiff.

“We’re really proud of this creative look which combines current trends with feminine loops. It’s only for those who feel they could carry it off confidently, but it really will add wow factor to any party,” says Jacqui, whose team created the collection.

The next look is perfect for parties, a winter wedding or for another special occasion, with the appeal of Bardot, innocent, but with a hint of the boudoir.

“It’s very pretty and elegant but the addition of height and a few loose tendrils turn a more formal look into a really sexy up-do,” says Jacqui.

Madonna in the 1980s meets 18th Century aristocracy in the third look. Those of a certain vintage will recall the New Romantic era and this look recreates the volumised loose waves and a cascade of backcombed curls with a modern edge.

“It a bed-head look that's super modern and works for different lengths and textures of hair. Perhaps more wearable for a night out, it can be dressed as far up or down as the client wants. We love this look because it says ‘let’s lighten up and have fun’,” says Jacqui.

Shine beauty therapist Siobhan Caffery suggests teaming it with dramatic, vampy make-up for full-on confidence.

While each look is impressive enough to have impact without any decoration, they are all suitable for embellishing with the array of bejewelled slides, clips, chains and bands.
