Gateshead and Newcastle free entertainment

SHOPPERS at intu Metrocentre and intu Eldon Square are set to enjoy a weekend of free entertainment and activities for everyone on July 2 and July 3.

The Lions of Zululand, the Hedge People, Teddy & Otto and the 99th Garrison tribute to Star Wars are among special entertainers plus the Metrocentre offering fairground rides and fairy princesses.

Karen Carr, regional marketing manager, intu north, says: “From little kids to big kids we’re aiming to put a smile on everyone’s face over the Saturday and Sunday.”

Customers can also enjoy exclusive offers and big competitions plus the winner of the Passport to Dine competition will be announced where one lucky winner will receive a £5,000 intu gift card.

Eldon Square will welcome The Lions of Zululand, who have arrived in the UK for a tour, bringing music and dancing to the malls with show-stopping performances. Roaming entertainment will be added by cuddly fox and otter Teddy & Otto as well as the hilarious Hedge People. There's a wide variety of music from an array of local talent, as well as tasty food sampling and fairground games, and caricaturist Paul Slattery will be on hand to capture fun images of shoppers.

At the Metrocentre the fun and retailer sampling takes place in Exhibition Square, plus a giant beach in Town square. Entertainers include 99th Garrison with fairy princesses and the hilarious Granny Turismos. Family favourites The Metrognomes are back with a Kids’ Club craft event in The Village and giant games in upper green mall.
