NORTH Yorkshire’s family-focused Deer Shed Festival, has announced this year’s first wave of artists for a venue which attracts 10,000 ticket-buyers, with 46 per cent 16 and under. The Baldersby Park event will see Beth Orton and Everything Everything topping the bill among a line-up that includes C Duncan, Money and Field Music.

In the coming months the festival organisers will announce the Saturday Headline slot and reveal the ever-popular science, arts, and workshops line-ups which will be linked to this year’s theme of Deer Shed Festival at the Movies.

Everything Everything will top the bill on Friday. Since the success of their debut album, Man Alive, in 2010, Everything Everything continue to grow both musically and in popularity; their work has been shortlisted for a Mercury Prize award and three Ivor Novellos. The release of their 2015 album, Get to Heaven, was met with great critical acclaim and lead singles Distant Past and Regret can often be heard gracing the BBC Radio 6 airwaves.

This Manchester group have won numerous awards including The Times Breakthrough Award and a Music Producers Guild Award for UK Single of the Year and are experienced festival entertainers having already wowed audiences at Festival 6, Isle of Wight, and three times at Glastonbury.

Beth Orton is top of the bill on Sunday. 2016 marks the 20h anniversary of her internationally acclaimed album Trailer Park, and in 2002 scored a Top Ten UK album with Daybreaker. Her “folktronica” style has seen her nominated for several Mercury Prize awards and earned a Brit Award. She’s collaborated with the likes of The Chemical Brothers, William Orbit, and EmmieLou Harris, performed at Glastonbury and joined Annie Lennox for the charity song Sing.

Her last UK gig was in 2013, but she’s back performing live and has announced a new album.

C Duncan is performing on the Lodge Stage on Saturday Night. He will be playing tracks from his Mercury Prize nominated debut album, Architect, which has been applauded for its maturity and its ability to blend influences as disparate as Fleet Foxes and Mozart.

With two classical musician parents, Duncan was virtually raised on a music mastering a variety of orchestral instruments in his early years and migrating to guitars and drums in his teens. Whilst the classical influence is clearly recognisable in his own music, he blends it seamlessly with modern sounds to create something new and exciting. His low-key live performances are mesmerising and charismatic – a modest musical sensation.

Field Music will be headlining the In the Dock Stage as part of a 2016 tour that will take them around the world. After four years focusing on solo careers, the Sunderland-born siblings returning to what they do best. Their previous performance at Deer Shed, in 2012, has been held up as one of the best in the festival’s history.
