Stockton and Newcastle youth theatre auditions

YMT (Youth Music Theatre) are holding auditions for performers at Stockton and Newcastle during January and February. The national organisation is looking for youngsters keen to kick-start your career in the performing arts and has openings for anyone aged between 11 and 21.

Performances take place next summer and involves working with leading industry professionals to create a new musical in two weeks. Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Lauren Samuels and Charlotte Ritchie have been among the 6,000 to take part so far. Eight new shows will be cast by YMT for its 2016 summer season, including Year 3000 – the Busted musical from Busted star James Bourne and award-winning writer Elliot Davis, a musical adaptation of The Great Gatsby, women's boxing epic Fight Like a Girl, plus contemporary dance theatre and a chance to work in Belfast and Plymouth.

Performer Auditions are three-hour group workshops led by a professional director, choreographer and musical director. They're informal, relaxed and are nothing like the auditions you may have seen on TV talent shows. Attenders do not need to prepare anything and all abilities are welcome. The team will lead a series of practical and fun activities designed to showcase your acting, singing and dancing as well as your ability to work as part of a team.
