Stick Man heads for York

AFTER four West End runs and tours in Singapore, Hong Kong and Paris, the stage adaptation of Stick Man, adapted from the book by Julia Donaldson with illustrations by Axel Scheffler, will play 18 performances at The Great Yorkshire Fringe this summer.

Stick Man will play at The White Rose Rotunda from Friday, July 24 to Sunday, August 2.

The plot revolves around the world outside the family tree becoming a dangerous place for Stick Man. Touching, funny and utterly original, this enchanting adaptation features three actors and a one-man-band playing a host of colourful characters and animals to magically re-tell Stick Man’s adventures.

Donaldson is a British writer, playwright and performer, the 2011–2013 Children's Laureate and the prize-winning author of some of the world's most-loved children's books, most notably the modern classic The Gruffalo which has sold more than five million copies worldwide. Julia is best known for her popular rhyming stories for children, which also include The Scarecrows Wedding, Room on the Broom, and Tiddler. The books have been translated into 40 languages and Donaldson received an MBE in 2011 for her services to Literature.

Stick Man is created by the award-winning Scamp Theatre, which was founded in 2003 by award-winning producers Jennifer Sutherland and Louise Callow, and brings a range of theatrical live performance to audiences of all ages.
