TICKETS go on sale on Friday for Jason Donovan's recently-announced performance at York Barbican on Sunday, May 15, after the star of stage and screen added 12 extra dates to his national UK tour.

Donovan will be singing songs from his debut five-times-platinum 1989 album Ten Good Reasons, plus greatest hits, as he plays 31 dates on a UK-wide tour.

Tickets will be released at 9am on the 24-hour line 0844-338-0000 or bookingsdirect.com. Seats are already on sale for Donovan's appearance at The Sage Gateshead on Sunday, March 6.

Ten Good Reasons featured two solo No 1 singles Too Many Broken Hearts and Sealed with a Kiss and featured a duet with Kylie Minogue, Especially for You, which also reached No 1.

This is the first time he toured as a solo artist for six years and follows his return to the role of Tick in Priscilla– Queen of the Desert, which played Newcastle in February and is booked for York Opera House on the week of Monday, November 30 to Saturday, December 5.

“The response to the solo tour has been totally overwhelming. I have been shocked and humbled by the speed at which these shows sold. Ten Good Reasons’ was life changing for me the first time around and it’s already proving to be life changing again,” says Donovan.

In the 1980s he shot to superstardom as the blue-eyed, blonde-haired heartthrob in the Aussie soap Neighbours when the show was watched by 20 million viewers as Donovan and Minogue played teenage sweethearts. The soap celebrated 30 years in production this year and Donovan and Kylie joined in a special edition Neighbours 30th: The Stars Reunite.

When his cover of Brian Hyland's Sealed with a Kiss entered the UK charts at No 1, Donovan became the first Australian male to ever hold both UK single and UK album chart top positions simultaneously.

Donovan has appeared in hit musicals in leading shows from The Rocky Horror Show, to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Sweeney Todd, Festen, Joseph, Jeff Wayne’s The War of the Worlds, the Here and Now Tour, The Sound of Music, and Annie Get Your Gun. Jason also presents an All 80s radio show on Heart every Sunday, and has played the celebrity game in I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! and Strictly Come Dancing. Donovan has just finished touring the UK in the highly-acclaimed play The King’s Speech and in September rejoins the cast of Priscilla.

Priscilla Queen of the Desert, starring Duncan James as Tick, plays Sunderland Empire from Monday, August 31 to Saturday, September 5. Box Office: 0844-871-3022 or ATGtickets.com/Sunderland
