Tickets are already flying for Disney's annual visit to Newcastle's MetroRadio Arena thanks to Elsa and Anna

DISNEY On Ice is coming to Newcastle this autumn and will feature a section based on the award-winning, world-wide success story that is Disney’s Frozen.

As soon as tickets went on release for this year’s ice spectacular at The MetroRadio Arena, show sales went into overdrive, with families eager to ensure their seats for the hottest ticket in town this October.

Fans of Disney’s Frozen will be transported on a voyage of delight to the wintery world of Arendelle to see sisters Anna and Elsa embark on an epic journey with the hilarious snowman Olaf and rugged mountain-man Kristoff. There's also a chance to see Ariel’s adventures in the undersea kingdom from The Little Mermaid; be entertained by Lightning McQueen, Mater and the crew of Disney?Pixar’s Cars performing high-speed stunts and see that the toys are back in town with Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Jessie and the rest of the Toy Story gang trying to escape from the encounters of Sunnyside Daycare from Toy Story 3.

“Disney On Ice is always a hugely popular attraction here in Newcastle, and always attracts very healthy audience numbers, but this year’s show has been particularly quick off the blocks sales-wise. It’s no surprise really when you consider the phenomenon that is Disney’s Frozen – the highest-grossing animated film of all time, and the fifth biggest box-office hit in the history of cinema. We’ve checked back at our records, and Disney On Ice presents Worlds of Enchantment is the quickest selling show since Disney On Ice presents High School Musical back in 2007, which turned out to be a complete sell-out. In just three weeks since tickets have gone on sale, we are 25 per cent sold. The box office continues to report brisk business and if this persists we will be sold out by the summer, so I would encourage fans to get their tickets early as currently there is still great availability,” says Paul Tappenden, general manager of The MetroRadio Arena.

Steven Armstrong, regional vice-president of Northern Europe for Feld Entertainment, producers of Disney On Ice, says: “We’re delighted to hear that this is the fastest-selling Disney On Ice show in recent history in Newcastle. Having characters from Disney’s Frozen is certainly exciting, as well as the inclusion of Cars, Toy Story and The Little Mermaid, so everyone in the family has something to look forward to. Disney On Ice has been coming to Newcastle since 1998, and our audience has grown year on year. This year’s sales forecast indicates we’ll be to capacity with great audiences full of excited little princes, princesses and the entire family at every show.”

“In (our) more than 30 years of producing Disney On Ice shows, Feld Entertainment has been waiting for a film like Frozen,” says producer Nicole Feld. “The most exciting part of bringing characters like Anna and Elsa to the ice for the first time is knowing that they have a powerful and inspiring message that resonates with audiences as the sisters discover the true meaning of love.”
