Usher – The UR Experience, MetroRadio Arena Newcastle
THE UR experience is Usher’s first tour in four years and he has promised his fans it will be an experience that they will never forget.
The supporting act Norwegian duo Nico and Finz, who are hot off their No 1 UK hit Am I Wrong, didn't seem to engage with the audience – I actually wondered if they had all been struck by lightning as there was almost no movement. The duo did their best to interact with the crowd and performed with a positive vibe. They eventually got some response from the hard-to-please crowd towards the end of their set, which included a very charming dance-off.
It was almost as if a different audience had appeared when Usher arrived on stage for his near two hour set as they suddenly came to life. Usher and his impressive array of dancers put on an exquisite show as they filled the stage. He sang a mixture of songs which span all of his 18-year music career including big hits such as Burn and Yeah! as well as tracks from his upcoming album UR.
Usher gave the crowd a real buzz, holding their attention between songs and kept them entertained. The only thing I found disappointing is that he didn’t invite a fan on stage, which he is known for doing on previous tours. I reckon there were a lot of die-hard Usher fans aching to share a few moments with the singer, songwriter, dancer, and actor
