Tickets for the South Tyneside International Magic Festival, which returns for its twelfth year in March next year have just been released.

The week-long event, organised by South Tyneside Council and TV magician John Archer will feature a series of performances in schools, along with three public shows at the Customs House, South Shields.

The prestidigitation starts on March 11 with a Family Magic Extravaganza, featuring a line-up of top North East talent in association with MagicBox.

Comedy magicians Michael Finney and The Great Nardini will be performing at the International Gala Shows at the Customs House, South Shields on Friday March 13 and 14. They will be joined by mind readers Luke Jermay, Satori and Atlas, Looch and family entertainer Dave Andrews and Russ Brown.

Also appearing are illusionists High Jinx, Diamond and Jade; card experts John Carey and Gordon Bruce; theatrical performer Kieron Lefever and event co-organiser John Archer. John, who stars in CBBC show Help My Supply Teacher is Magic, said: “The South Tyneside International Magic Festival has been a highlight on my calendar for many years now and I’m delighted to be taking a more active role in 2015.

“This year’s line-up features an eclectic mix of international acts and there’s something to suit magic fans of all ages,” he added.

The festival will also feature a specialist convention designed exclusively for professional magicians, which will include a series of lectures, close up sessions and performances, along with additional masterclasses and a special Midnight Show. More than a third of tickets for this aspect of the festival have already been sold. Councillor Alan Kerr, Deputy Leader of South Tyneside Council with responsibility for Culture and Leisure, said: “Tickets are already selling well for the South Tyneside International Magic Festival Convention and, with the Family Magic Extravaganza and Gala Shows also going on sale, we expect demand to be high for the event’s twelfth year.”
