THE town of Spennymoor has long since been associated with theatrical entertainment, particularly Christmas parties. Now the

town council and Ramside Event Catering have made an agreement to stage functions at the town hall.

December party nights are on sale with Spennymoor keen to retain its status as the best place to part in South Durham and the Wear Valleyl.

There are five weekend dates on offer and the celebrations begin on December 6 when Motown Knights hit town re-creating former chart hits by such legendary names as Smokey Robinson and The Miracles, The Four Tops and The Temptations.

The following Saturday's entertainers are party band Relentless, whose repertoire includes music by Wham and Bon Jovi to more recent hits by the likes of Amy Winehouse, The Script and The Killers.

The programme features two nights billed as Sounds of Swing starring the contemporary Dan Carney Band, who perform swing favourites spanning the decades up to recent material by Michael Buble.

The festivities are concluded on Saturday December 20 with 1970s Disco Divas featuring Miss Beverley Hills, who invite party revellers to dig out those flares and party into the night to the sounds of pop music's most colourful decade.

Each of the party nights includes a three-course dinner by Ramside Event Catering, together with a disco party and late bar.
