SOUTH Carolina rockers, HEYROCCO, are heading across the pond for the first time for a short UK tour. They’re working on their debut album at the moment, which will air in 2015 and already have a few supporters, including Radio One’s Huw Stephens and XFM, who have been championing their first single Melt.

It’s early days for the trio, who consist: Nate Merli (vocals and guitar), Christopher Cool (bass - and yes that’s his real name), and Taco Cooper (drums). They’ve been together for five years after plugging in to their parents garages in the early years before they got far too loud.

Famed for their carefree image and explosive live shows, HEYROCCO have been compared to The Cure, Nada Surf and the Foo Fighters but with a sharp stab of experimental.

The band got their name from Chris’ pet turtle, named Rocco. Chris explains: “I used to talk to this turtle a lot. I didn’t have many friends. One day I found the turtle had somehow got on my bed. So I said ‘Heyy, Rocco. Come on.’ Sadly, I don’t have the turtle any more, but the name stuck.’”
