CLUB Cotherstone organiser, Colin Robinson, puts on gigs in his local venue, Cotherstone Village Hall. After feeling too scared to arrange any gigs for a while, Robinson says: “we missed the music nights so much, we are back again, probably for the last time this year, but this should be a good one.”

His headliner is folk-rock-country-blues singer-songwriter Ben Arthur, from New York, who already has five albums and one novel under his belt. Arthur’s music features on the ABC television show Men in Trees and he’s supported the likes of Bruce Hornsby, Toots and the Maytells and Tori Amos. “He’s someone we’ve worked towards booking for quite some time,” says Robinson, “Ben tours the UK every couple of years or so and we’re chuffed that this time things have finally worked out for a Club Cotherstone appearance.

Support is from young Barnard Castle singer, Rebecca-Anna Hosey. “She may only be 13 years old, but things are happening fast for the talented singer-songwriter,” says Robinson, “We were mightily impressed when we saw her at a recent Teenage Band night. Ben Arthur has made no secret of the fact that he’s impressed with Rebecca’s music, there’s even talk of a possible duet on the night.” he adds.

Tickets are £6 in advance and £8 on the door. “That’s if there are any tickets left to sell on the door,” quips Robinson, whose gigs are always well supported and unusual in the fact that he provides the music and the audience bring their own booze and nibbles.
