Mallory Knox will head out on their biggest tour yet in November, in support of their second album Asymmetry, which is out on October 27 on Epic Records/Search and Destroy.
Asymmetry was recorded at Moles in Bath and Monnow Valley in Wales with Pixies/Foo Fighters producer Gil Norton, it finds Mikey Chapman (vocals), Sam Douglas (bass guitar), Joe Savins (lead guitar), James Gillett (rhythm guitar) and Dave Rawling (drums) tackling second album’ syndrome with Mallory’s trademark, anthemic rock sound.
“This album sees us really develop as musicians and as a band,” says Chapman. “The heavier stuff is more credibly heavy and the poppier stuff is more genuinely pop. It’s an eclectic mix of everything we love musically.”
When the album was taking shape, disaster struck in the form of a fire at Moles. Thankfully, despite initial reports that the band were inside at the time, they’d actually returned home for the weekend. Thankfully, all of their gear and their hard work survived unscathed. So, ultimately, the only things Mallory lost in the fire were their final inhibitions. Reminded of the fragility of life, they decamped to Monnow Valley while Moles was restored and decided to really go for it.
Mallory Knox are appearing at the O2 Academy, Newcastle on November 11. Box Office:0844-477-2000 or
