- Keep an eye out for pests such as aphids which can multiply quickly in warm weather
- Help courgettes and squash to ripen in the sun by removing any leaves which are shading them
- Clean your pond pump filter to keep it working properly
- Harvest the last of the peas and broad beans, picking them regularly until no more pods are produced
- Continue lifting garlic and shallots when the tops start to die off. Scoop the soil from around the bulbs and leave them on the soil to dry before storing them
- If warm weather persists, allow your grass to grow a little longer by setting the mower blades higher to relieve stress on the lawn. Leave the clippings on the lawn to help retain moisture
- Give conifer hedges their annual trim and reduce the growth on new spring-planted conifers to make a thicker hedge
- Check for reversion on variegated shrubs and trees and remove all-green shoots Plant dwarf bulbous irises for winter colour
- Tidy the pond by deadheading marginal aquatic plants and removing excess growth from submerged oxygenating plants
