TALENTED young performers are being sought to star alongside one of pantomimes’ longest running dames – Berwick Kaler.

Actors aged between eight and 11 years old are needed to star in this year’s production Old Mother Goose at York Theatre Royal.

Children need to be less than 5ft tall and although acting, singing or dancing experience is preferred, it is not essential.

Rehearsals will take place during the end of November, dates yet to be confirmed, mostly on evenings and weekends. There will be two teams of young people who will alternate performances.

Performances will take place between December 11 and January 31, including some midweek matinee performances during term time.

There will be no performances on Christmas Day.

Auditions will take place at York Theatre Royal’s De Grey Rooms on Saturday, September 13. There is no need to contact the theatre about auditions in advance, as those wanting to take part can turn up at the De Grey building, next door to the main theatre building.

Those with surnames A to L need to register at 3pm for an audition between 3.30pm and 4.30pm and surnames L to Z need to register at 5pm followed by a 5.30pm to 6.30pm audition. Clothes and footwear suitable for running and dancing are required and children will need to bring a passport-sized photograph of themselves.
