TO many it may seem that this is Jennifer Nettles’ first solo recording.

However, it is only another chapter in her recording career.

Apart from the award-winning Sugarland due with Kristian Bush, she also fronted her own Jennifer Nettles Band and an outfit called Soul Miner’s Daughter. At one time she charted as a duet partner on the country version of Bon Jovi’s 2006 single Who Says You Can’t Go Home.

It is probably this wealth of experience that has led her to express herself across varying musical songs on her new album.

Produced by Rick Rubin, who also produced many artists including The Dixie Chicks and Johnny Cash, she says: “If you ask any musician who is on their producer bucket list, Rick would be on each and every one. I am absolutely thrilled and proud to be working with him.”

Of the 11 tracks here, she has written and co-written ten of them.

“With the release of That Girl it will have been almost four years since I started steering my ship in the direction of a solo venture.

Reinvention takes processing, evaluation, planning, and time, and so four years ago I began. Again,” says Nettles.
