THE Reduced Height Theatre Company is the fulfilment of Warwick Davis’ dream; talented actors of reduced height, featuring in mainstream thrillers and comedies. He jokes that, by forming his own theatre company, he could cast himself in whatever production he fancied.

See How They Run is a farce written by Philip King while engaged on his National Service in the RAF. Set in an English vicarage towards the end of the Second World War, it has its fair share of mistaken identity, people running around in their underwear and other people being bundled into cupboards.

As the Reverend and Mrs Lionel Toop, Warwick Davis and Rachel Denning act as anchors for the rest of the company, who become increasingly excited and over-the-top as the play progresses. At several points during the evening the shouting and rushing about is exhausting, as much for the audience as I am sure it is for the cast.

If you are wearing a head mic, you really don’t need that level of volume, and I, for one, found it offputting.

The set is cleverly designed to be twothirds typical size to accommodate actors whose average height is 4ft 2 inches, although the staircase is challenging for some.

Davis is his usual reliable, likeable self, and Rachel Denning adds glamour as his wife, recently retired from the stage.

Francesca Mills deserves a special mention for her appealingly manic performance as Ida the Maid.

It’s a very funny play, and I hope the cast settles into it as the run progresses.
