NEWCASTLE Theatre Royal Panto star Danny Adams has filmed his own children’s TV show for CBBC entitled Danny!!! Currently available on BBC iplayer, if the pilot secures enough views a full series will be made.

A local celebrity in his own right, Danny Adams has been entertaining theatre-goers in Newcastle now for more than 13 years as one half of legendary Theatre Royal father and son panto team Clive and Danny.

Widely loved for their hilarious slapstick routines, breathtaking magic acts, circus tricks and mad cap adventures, they have a vast loyal fan base within the region and further afield. Danny in particular is a hit with younger audiences and his catchphrases have become a schoolyard staple!

The one-off pilot for the much-loved children’s channel also stars Danny’s real-life brother Mick Potts, who has his own cult-following for his portrayal of ‘The Idiot’ in Theatre Royal pantos. The pilot show features Danny and Mick has hapless brothers working in a leisure centre. Danny is the dogsbody and Mick the security guard who has a talent for making the simplest tasks very complicated! The show is an extension of their stage characters and showcases their physical comedy skills to the max.

It has been produced by the London based TV production company Tiger Aspect that make Mr Bean, Benidorm, Vicar of Dibley, Catherine Tate and Peaky Blinders.

The show is easy to find - just search for ‘Danny!!!’ on the BBC iPlayer. If the pilot is viewed enough times then Danny!!! may get made into an entire series which could be filmed in Newcastle!

Danny and Mick said “We absolutely loved filming the pilot and it would be amazing to make some more. Please watch the show everyone – we would really appreciate it if our wonderful fans and friends in the North East support us in this new venture!”

But Danny was also quick to add: “If we do get a series I will not be leaving the Theatre Royal panto – this will always be my first and foremost gig during the winter months!”

Tom Beattie, head of kids at Tiger Aspect and producer of Danny!!! said “We are so pleased to be working with Danny and Mick on this very funny show. These guys know their stuff and it’s been great to give them a platform on the BBC to reach a wider audience and share with the rest the country these North East legends.”

Danny!!! will only be available for 26 days – and will be removed on Saturday 30 January so fans are urged to watch it as soon as they can and pass it on to all their friends!
