Tennants auctioneers and Living magazine team up for shopping treat

A luxurious alternative to Christmas shopping on the crowded high street is on the way again this year thanks to a partnership between a fabulous Dales venue and an upmarket magazine. Living, the award-winning glossy monthly, has joined forces with The Garden Rooms at Tennants of Leyburn to stage a second Winter Wonderland Christmas Fair, from 10am to 6pm on Friday, December 9, and 10am to 4pm, on Saturday, December 10.

More than 50 designers and local artisans will be showcasing the very best of seasonal gifts and produce at the fair, to help customers find perfect presents, deck their halls in style and bring home wonderful treats for the Christmas larder. Exhibitors this year include Bleikers Smokehouse, the Whitby Jet Jeweller, Cooks & Kitchens and Berber Leather.

A stunning 20-foot Christmas tree will share The Garden Rooms’ entrance hall with the majestic sweeping staircase, and mince pies will be waiting to get customers in festive mood on arrival.

The new Cloisters - a wonderful rustic courtyard space with open beams and flagged floors – will host a festive food court, with local producers offering a great range of seasonal specialities. Santa and his Chief Elf will be in their special North Pole workshop on Saturday, December 10, where children can make their own bears to take home in time for Christmas. A separate charge applies and booking is essential.

Visitors have the opportunity to try the Christmas menu in the family-friendly café, or treat themselves to a Christmas cocktail in the restaurant.

Thirsk Birds of Prey will be bringing live birds, giving everyone the chance to see these magnificent creatures up close.
