THE members of The UK Legends have played alongside a who's who of British rock music, including The Animals, Smokie, Joe Cocker, Dire Straits, Status Quo, Gary Moore, Thin Lizzy, and many more.

And their show draws on all of those and more. The concept of The UK Legends show – playing in Darlington on Friday – is that rather than only performing the songs of one band they draw on a wide repertoire of hit songs from UK bands of the 60s, 70s and 80s, offfering a very entertaining show which satisfies a very wide selection of musical tastes and age ranges.

Both of the frontmen in the band offer vocal skills – Martin Bland on vocals and bass guitar brings classic R&B power and Steve Lamb on guitar and vocals is the smooth voice of rock.

Bland grew up in the North-East and was in Beckett and Warbeck before becoming the longest-serving bass player in The Animals and joining Eric Bell's Thin Lizzy.

Keyboard player Stevie Hutchinson, from South Shields, followed a similar path, spending six years in The Animals and has appeared alongside Bo Diddley, Richie Blackmore, Dave Edmunds, The Yardbirds and many more. The line-up is completed by Mickey 'Mad Dog' Davis on percussion.

The UK Legends regularly headline at concerts with audiences of up to 50,000 people and have performed live on TV shows that have been simultaneously broadcast to over 100 countries worldwide.

Support is a solo turn from Darlington's own Alex Fawcett.
