Hartlepool-born radio presenter Paul 'Goffy' Gough is all set for his new Sunday radio show, which will take to the air this Mothers Day from 12 - 2 pm on BBC Tees.

Goffy will take over the slot from Ken Snowdon, who has been hosting the Sunday lunchtime show for the past 20 years on the BBC station that covers Teesside, County Durham and North Yorkshire.

Goffy said: "I am really looking forward to getting on the radio this Sunday. I have had a load of fun on BBC Tees for the past four years with my Saturday lunchtime show, and to now present this second show every week is brilliant.

“The feedback in those four years has been terrific, and I really appreciate the many that tune in for the live, local fun on the air."

"My programmes are dominated by local people and events.

“It's too late to now change, in terms of my presentation style, I adore the area I live in and the people and characters that I meet on my travels.

“Listeners phone through to BBC Tees and tell me they love hearing about their own part of the world and things that are going on around the doors where they live - it could be a night on the Marina at Hartlepool, struggling across the cobbles of Yarm High Street late at night, or finding out the gossip from the fans coming out of Victoria Park or the Riverside Stadium.’’

Gough, with over 20 years experience in North-East radio, added: "My new show will feature many local memories, characters, humour, live interaction, events and most importantly the fantastic music that has been so much part of my life and that I have been able to share with the listeners.

“Working in social clubs, nightclubs and hosting many live events across the years in the BBC Tees area, I have witnessed first-hand what makes local people tick regarding music.

“Sunday lunchtime is a great slot, as it will evoke many memories for listeners when Mam was in the kitchen cooking Sunday dinner and life was not so hectic.

“The live two hour show will also reflect today, with details of local events and weekend sport."

Goffy can be heard on BBC Tees this Saturday from 12 -2 pm and with his new Sunday show 12 - 2 pm.
