Alex Horne and the Horne Section play Durham

THE Horne Section have announced a tour providing a free-wheeling fusion of stand-up and live music as the band bring their spontaneous energy to Durham's Gala Theatre next month.

Stand-up comedian Alex Horne is the creator and host of The Horne Section. The band has enjoyed numerous sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe as well as at The Soho Theatre, Lyric Theatre – Shaftesbury Avenue, The Criterion Theatre and The Hackney Empire. They have hosted three series of the successful Alex Horne Presents the Horne Section on BBC Radio 4, and take charge of an episode of Nevermind the Buzzcocks (BBC2) plus regularly appearing in dictionary corner on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (Channel 4).

The Horne Section are: Joe Auckland (trumpet, banjo), Will Collier (bass), Ben Reynolds (drums and percussion) and Ed Shekdrake (keyboards).

Horne also starred in the third series of Taskmaster, featuring Paul Chowdhry, Dave Gorman, Al Murray, Rob Beckett and Sara Pascoe, the hit television show which he hosts alongside Greg Davies, in October last year, Dave. Horne was nominated for the 2014 Foster’s Comedy Award with his Edinburgh Festival Fringe show Monsieur Butterfly (2014). He is also the host of three series of the iTunes chart-topping Chortle Award nominated podcast Alex Horne Breaks The News (2014).
