THIS Summer, Newcastle will host its first ever Enchanted Entertainment Musical Theatre School set to take place at Tyne Theatre & Opera House during the school holidays. Enchanted Entertainment, producers of the theatre’s Christmas and Easter Pantomimes and many other popular theatre shows nationwide, are planning a fun-filled week for local children aimed at improving their musical theatre performance skills. The Summer Musical Theatre School will be held at Tyne Theatre & Opera House from Monday 28th August to Saturday 2nd September and will also include 2 special performances onstage by the students themselves on the final day.

Musical Director Jezz Weatherall said: “We’re really looking forward to returning to Newcastle during the Summer holidays with this fantastic weeklong series of workshops. The Summer Musical Theatre School will centre on singing, acting and dancing performance techniques as well as general stage craft and will give the team at Enchanted Entertainment the opportunity to spend time working with local children and passing on our professional training and experience”.

At the Summer Musical Theatre School children will be working all week with the Tyne Theatre & Opera House Christmas and Easter panto creatives: Kerry Blaskett for Dance, Jezz Weatherall for Singing and Guy Pascall for Acting. The tutors have all worked in professional theatre for well over a decade and have a wealth of knowledge in the industry to pass onto students, from script and music writing to audition and performance techniques. They have also worked with some of the most popular TV and Theatre actors, such as: Joe Pasquale, Dani Harmer, Bobby Davro, Maureen Nolan, Sam Attwater, George Sampson, Lloyd Warbey and Peter Duncan to name but a few.

Choreographer Kerry Blaskett said: “We’ve planned an amazing week for local children learning songs and routines from a variety of well known West End and Broadway musicals, which they will then perform in two special shows at Tyne Theatre & Opera House on the final Saturday. Students will be divided into 3 groups depending on age and ability and there will be classes in Dance, Acting and Singing. They will also be working on some pieces as a whole group, so there will be opportunities for some larger ensemble performances”.

The Summer Musical Theatre School will run from 9am – 5pm daily from Monday, August 28, to Saturday, September 2, and is open to local children, aged 8 to 16, regardless of experience. Places are on sale now and extremely limited, priced at just £140 for the whole week. Call the Box Office now on 0844 2491 000 or book online at www.tynetheatreandoperahouse.uk
