AN article The Northern Echo on Saturday stated a cheque handed over at an event at Evenwood's Dementia Cafe was for £5,000 from Cllr Heather Smith and Cllr Andy Turner to go towards a proposed sensory garden.
In fact, the cheque handed over was £250 for the sensory garden from the driving force behind the Dementia Cafe, Ernie Malt, who had raised the funds at his birthday party.
Another cheque for £500 was presented by Cllrs Smith and Turner to the group for the purchase of table tennis tables. We apologise for the mistake.
