Knife gang robs man of mobile

2:38pm Thursday 7th December 2000

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was robbed at knifepoint and warned "dont make me stick you" last week.

The 31-year-old man, from South Norwood, was walking along Belevedere Road, Crystal Palace, near the junction with Maberley Road at about 7.40pm on Monday, December 4 when he became aware of two men walking near him.

One of the men turned to the victim and said: "Give me your telephone, dont make me stick you", and showed him a silver knife.

When he handed over his mobile phone the robbers offered to give back his sim card - the vital micro-chip needed to operate mobile phones.

The man refused it and they then robbed him of his money and walked off towards Hamlet Road.

The suspects are both black men about 17 years old and both about 5ft 7in tall. One had a blue zip-up jacket and dark trousers with short black hair, the other had a red jacket and baseball cap.

If you have any information about the robbery, call DS Remon on 0208 284 8060 or crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
