A SHOPPING centre is looking to give two new children the chance to get the ‘best job in the North-East.’

The Metrocentre’s current Head and Deputy Head of Fun are Esther Bennett, ten, and seven-year-old Logan Jackson Luke, who are both from County Durham.

They are approaching the end of their year-long contract and are encouraging other children to give it a try.

The pair opened Santa’s Grotto, helped switch on the Christmas lights and performed on stage during a Metrognome show.

They have also tested the newest toys, reviewed the latest kids’ films and sampled the children’s menus in the dining quarter.

Logan Jackson Luke, who goes to Pittington Primary School, near Durham, said: “This year has been so awesome but now it’s time for someone else to keep an eye on those cheeky Metrognomes.

“If you love having fun, trying out new things and eating delicious food then this is the job for you.”

The competition is open to children aged between five and nine and all entrants should be enthusiastic, confident and creative with a fantastic sense of fun.

Application forms are no available from from any guest services desk at the Gateshead complex and must be sent back by Sunday, March 19.

Esther Bennett, a pupil at Lumley Junior School, said: “This job is very, extremely fun.”
