A COFFEE supplier has sourced a new bean after an inspiring trip to Africa.

Rounton Coffee, based in East Rounton, near Northallerton, North Yorkshire, deal with speciality coffee that is ethically sourced, and have found a new coffee bean in Tanzania.

The company works directly with the farmers in order to ensure they get a premium price for their produce and benefit from their trade.

David Beattie, founder of Rounton Coffee, said their recent trip was conducted to research possible sources of speciality coffee beans and to see how the company can help those in developing countries.

“We set our sights on Tanzania in the hopes of finding a coffee that we find, is a true reflection of this country” he said.

“Visiting the farms first-hand meant we could inspect the crop, the harvesting and processing methods and environmental conditions, all of which impact the quality of the bean.

“Our mission is to source and roast some of the most exclusive coffee from around the world, and we feel we are really pursuing this with our Tanzanian venture” he added.

Rounton’s new coffee will be available at the end of the year, including at its own Bedford Street Coffee House in Middlesbrough.
