NORTH Yorkshire Police have become the latest force to unleash their strutting dance moves in the global Running Man Challenge.

The police force’s two minute dance challenge features a cast including Police Dogs Meg and Thor, children from Applegarth Primary School in Northallerton and officers and police staff throwing some shapes outside their headquarters.

The viral dance challenge has swept across the world after a New Zealand force danced to Ghost Town DJ’s 1996 hit My Boo in a bit to attract new recruits to its ranks. Now police forces all over the world have posted their dance moves on social media.

North Yorkshire was nominated for the challenge by Durham Police whose own video featured the force’s mascot, City Safety Bear on the loose, before officers encircled the bear and everyone broke into dance.

It followed Cleveland Police’s dance video featuring Middlesbrough’s team mascot Roary the Lion having a dust up with a police bear, before things are quickly sorted out as everyone breaks into dance.

North Yorkshire Police passed the baton on to Cambridge Constabulary, Orange County Sheriff's Office in Florida and Norfolk Constabulary.
