A STORAGE and distribution firm is celebrating a staff milestone.

The Reed Boardall Group says 200 workers have now been at the company for more than ten years.

Andrew Baldwin, managing director of the company’s cold storage division, also revealed the business, which has nearly 750 staff, has 31 people with at least 20 years’ service.

He said: “We don’t use agency workers; all our team are long-term employees, which gives continuity and has built up a valuable understanding of what we do.

“This is reinforced by the high numbers of family members.

“We have numerous husbands and wives, a mother and daughter and several dads and sons, as well as a husband, wife and father in law.”

The company works with supermarkets and food makers across Europe to transport goods to UK chiller cabinets and freezers, which eventually find their way to dinner tables around the country.

Running a 55-acre site off the A1(M) at Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire, which officials say is the largest of its kind in Europe, it previously revealed plans to build a 110,000sq ft extension to expand a cold store.

The business, which has its roots in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, already has space for 142,000 pallets.

However, bosses say they have now secured approval for the extension, which they believe will allow it to store an extra 30,000 pallets of stock.
