BEAT the boss is the challenge facing hundreds of North-East staff in next Sunday’s Morrisons Great North Run.

Stephen Kelly, the global chief executive of North-East based computer software firm Sage, has pledged to give £2 per minute to any Team Sage runner who beats his time in their Beat the CEO challenge.

Mr Kelly, said: “As the top private sector employer in the region, we want to throw our support behind this iconic event. Team Sage will be more than 200 Sage colleagues, partners, customers and suppliers – our biggest ever Great North Run team. It will be great to see Sage families running, cheering or providing supplies on one of the biggest days in the North-East calendar.”

The team, who are aiming to raise £75,000 for Cancer Research UK as part of their Great North run fundraising worked with local Sage customer Pro-Ad to create their kit for this year’s run.

This fundraising will be added to the £380,000 that Sage has already raised for Cancer research over the past 8 years .
