LAWYERS are playing a key role in a £265m North-East housing redevelopment.

A legal team from Ward Hadaway is providing advice on the sale of homes at The Rise, in the west end of Newcastle.

The work will see 1,800 properties built on a 66-hectare site in the Scotswood area of the city.

Ward Hadaway, which has offices in Newcastle, has also supported developer New Tyne West Development Company on associated infrastructure agreements for the site.

New Tyne West Development Company is a public-private sector partnership involving Newcastle City Council and BK LLP, a consortium between Barratt Homes and Keepmoat Homes.

Lesley Fairclough, Ward Hadaway partner and head of development, said: “It’s fantastic to be involved in such a development, which will really change the face of the west end of Newcastle.

“This is the largest housing-led regeneration initiative in the North-East and is already proving to be a real draw for homeowners.

“Our estate set-up and plot sales team, led by Catherine Davies, will be using all their experience to ensure sales go through as smoothly as possible.”
