STUDENTS aiming for a career in the aviation industry have been rewarded for their efforts.
More than 60 youngsters from Stockton Riverside College gathered with family and friends at Durham Tees Valley Airport for an awards ceremony.
The Aviation Awards event highlighted the successes of present learners and former college students, who are now working in the industry.
Winners included Sophie Hammond, who was given the high flyer award, Christopher Thomas, who was named rising star, and Eloise Ross, who was crowned student of the Year.
Catherine Carney, the college’s course leader, said: “It has been a fantastic year for student success, both past and present, in the aviation department.
“To hold the ceremony at the airport is particularly special, as it offers learners the chance to share with family and friends the type of environment they could work in.”
Shaun Woods, the airport’s manager, added: “We have a good relationship with the college and are delighted to play our part in encouraging students to pursue their ambitions to work in aviation.”
