A TRAINING provider says it has added more offshore courses to deal with a skills demand.

AIS Training, in North Shields, North Tyneside, can now offer training on mechanical joint integrity, hydrogen sulphide awareness and fire proofing.

Approved by the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board, the courses include modules on how to repair and replace mechanical joints and hydraulicallytorqued bolted connection systems.

It can also teach learners how to deal with deadly hydrogen sulphide gas and install passive fire protection (PFP) in the offshore oil and gas industry.

Paul Stonebanks, AIS managing director, said: “We hope these new courses will go some way to plugging the offshore skills gap and boosting the overall competency of workers.

“Skills shortages still exist offshore and we are working closely with the oil and gas industry to ensure we deliver the training the sector needs to combat these shortages.”
