A COMPANY is enjoying a new vibe after help from a graduate.

Roundel, in South Shields, South Tyneside, has transformed its warehouse thanks to support from Chris Wilson.

The 23-year-old illustration and design graduate created an urban theme, highlighting the company's history.

The space is being used to launch the firm's new product range.

Mr Wilson, from Murton, east Durham, said: “The work with Roundel isn't really inspired by anything in particular, it just made sense to me.

“I worked independently, and looking at Roundel and what is in South Shields, it just made sense to go with the party on the beach theme.

“Everyone knows the kitchen is the cool place to hang-out at a party.

“I wanted to paint people having fun because the audience would hopefully resonate with that feeling.”

He was employed by Roundel after working with the Sunderland Intern Factory, a tailored scheme that recruits final-year University of Sunderland students and matches their skills to employers.

Since graduating, Mr Wilson has also worked for Hallmark and is an artist in residence at the University of Sunderland.

Joe Woodhouse, the university's programme leader for art and design foundation degrees, said: “Chris' work is both unique and executed beautifully.

“He has already moved into work, completed several commissions and published his own graphic novels.

“It is fantastic to see the energy, ambition and professionalism of our graduates realised as they progress into careers in the creative industries.”
