A TAXI company is helping get people back into work.
Boro Taxis, in Cargo Fleet, near Middlesbrough, has secured funding to run a pilot scheme looking to get 100 people back into employment.
The firm is partnered by Aim High Training, and bosses say 37 men and two women have already signed up for practical and classroom-based lessons.
Mohammed Bashir, who founded the private hire company in 1982, said: “We have grown so much and want to provide new opportunities.
“I want to help local people looking for work by giving them the skills and knowledge to pursue a career in the industry.
“Those who pass the BTEC qualification and meet the necessary standards and regulatory checks will be guaranteed a job with us.”
The BTEC course covers customer service, disability awareness, health and safety, route planning and luggage carrying.
Tom Davison, Aim High Training owner, added: “People will get a feel for how a large successful taxi firm operates from day one while working towards an industry recognised qualification.”
