FOOD and engineering company Carr’s Milling Industries yesterday predicted it would see its annual profits more than double. The Carlisle group, which has sites in Askrigg, North Yorkshire, and in Barnard Castle, has previously said it had seen strong trading across its whole operation, and expected to substantially exceed its original profit prediction of £9.2m. In a statement, Carr’s said yesterday that it expected profits in the year to August 30 to be at least £12.5m, on revenue of about £350m. Last year, the group saw a profit of £5.5m on a turnover of £253m. Carr’s said trading in its core agriculture division, the largest of its three sectors, was particularly key to its success, with significant market share gains in feed and fertiliser.
