A FORMER Newcastle United
youth player, who went on to
play more than 1,000 games for
some of the North-East's top
non-league clubs, is playing a
major part in developing a hotel
for Middlesbrough FC's owner
Steve Gibson.
Warren Teasdale, a senior
structural engineer for White
Young Green, is part of the team
working to renovate Rockcliffe
Hall, near Darlington, owned by
Middlesbrough FC.
The hall, next to the club's
training ground at Hurworth
Place, is being developed into a
luxury hotel with an 18-hole golf
course.

Mr Teasdale, now 41, began
his football career with
Newcastle United, playing
regularly for the youth team.
In 1984, he represented
England Schoolboys and in the
same year left Newcastle to
take up an offer to play nonleague
football for Brandon
United.
Mr Teasdale went on to have
a highly distinguished nonleague
career, before retiring
last year.
He said: "Whenever I go on
site or travel around the area I
am always meeting people at
work who saw me play or who I
kicked when they played
against me.
""I come from the North-East
and have lived here all my life.
"It's particularly gratifying to
be able to help regenerate
rundown areas and help to
restore old buildings. I'm very
fortunate to have had a good
career in Structural Engineering
as well as playing football."
