Get on board a flight to a surfers’ paradise
TWO Cornish surfers braced
the North-East chills to
promote the launch of an air
route between the two
destinations.
A daily service from
Newcastle International Airport
to Newquay Cornwall Airport
will be launched next month by
Air Southwest and is expected
to be popular with tourists.
Surfers Emma Skinner and
James Mitchell, both from
Newquay, met shoppers in the
city's Northumberland Street
to promote breaks in Cornwall.
The flights are one of
several additions to the
schedule at Newquay Cornwall
Airport, which is gearing up for
its busiest year to date.
Mike Coombes, Air
Southwest's deputy chief
executive, said: "Our daily
flights from Newcastle to
Newquay will cut hours off the
time it would take to travel to
Cornwall by train or car.
"It is the first time that Air
Southwest has operated from
Newcastle and we're delighted
to be able to offer a year-round
service.
"It means people from
across the North-East of
England will be able to take a
short-hop flight to Cornwall,
whatever the season".
Flights will start from April
28 and prices cost from £35
one way, including taxes and
charges.
